The Typographical Genius of Walter Hamady & The Perishable Press
with Ruth Lingen

Walter Hamady established The Perishable Press Limited in 1964 and produced 131 editions of handmade letterpress books, as well as innumerable broadsides, collages and ephemera. His collaborative books feature writers such as Robert Creeley, Loren Eiseley, and Robert Duncan, as well as visual artists Peter Sis, John Wilde and Henrik Drescher. Hi series "The Interminable Gabberjabbs", which dissect and exploit the book form using obsessive typesetting, gorgeous color printing and found imagery, all filtered through Walter's keen intellect and humor, will be featured in the talk. Perishable Press books will be available for a rare, hands-on viewing.
