Learn how to use typography to create better aesthetic experiences, improve readability and give content on the Web even more clarity. Developed with web designers and developers in mind, this workshop will take you through a combination of presentations and hands-on exercises that will cover the essentials for creating robust typographical experiences which you will be able to apply out in the real world.

Topics include:
• Selecting and combining typefaces for optimal performance, including variable fonts.
• Designing body copy, headings and editorial elements in responsive layouts. Making and breaking the grid with the latest CSS standards.
• Typography for content and interaction.
• Combining typography and photography.
• Art Directed Web Typography, including creating text effects. Advanced techniques.

This workshop is aimed at designers and web developers who possess basic to intermediate skills in modern (responsive) Web design and typography. Previous experience with HTML and CSS is helpful, but not required. You are a perfect candidate for this workshop if...
1. You understand the importance of typography for cross-platform brand experiences.
2. You recognize well-set typography and want to learn how to properly typeset screen typography in the responsive environment.

Responsive Web Typography
Marko Dugonjić is a designer, developer, author, and speaker. As the Director of User Experience at SymSoft Solutions, he improves digital experiences for both public and private sector organizations. Marko too speaks at design conferences and facilitates User Experience and Web Typography workshops. He founded Typetester, a tool for designing with web typography and co-authored Smashing Book #4 with The Next Steps For Web Typography chapter. Marko once managed to rock 100.000 chairs around the World in a single day with his Responsive Web Typography Demo. Using nothing more than a laptop camera to detect the reader’s face, the web page dynamically adjusts screen typography according to the measured reading distance.
