6:30PM – 9:30PM location: to be determined

Please note that this class meets for 9 sessions. No class on November 23, Thanksgiving.

Print and web designers, type designers, and DIY publishers can catch up on the basics of contemporary web design by building a small-scale web project from scratch, focusing on responsive design and typography using modern HTML & CSS. The course begins with the basics of design using web standards, including fundamentals of responsive layout, digital typography, and efficient adaptation for various devices and screen sizes. Participants learn about digital font issues as well as general design concepts like fluid page layout, typeface pairing, and how to avoid boring web design. Upon completion, students will have a basic working knowledge of responsive design and typography, with the ability to produce small websites or browser-native comps as part of a larger web development workflow. Previous experience with HTML & CSS is helpful but not required.
