Typography is an essential part of graphic design, but mastering it can sometimes seem daunting. In this 1-day workshop, you will acquire typographic skills on the micro level — how to solve intricate typographic hierarchies, and how to fine-tune long passages of text. You will learn how and when to use various kinds of dashes, get acquainted with OpenType features and get to know all the strange characters in your glyph palette. Come learn how it can be useful to be slightly OCD! It will make you a better typographer.


    Required Materials

  • a laptop running Adobe InDesign CS4 or later.




Instructor: Tânia Raposo

Micro Typography
Tânia Raposo is a Portuguese designer specialised in typography. She is currently based in the Netherlands, working as a freelance graphic/type designer, researcher and archivist. She is a graduate of the KABKʼs TypeMedia Master, and has previously worked as a graphic designer for the studios Itemzero in Lisbon and Atlas in Palma de Mallorca, as a curatorial assistant at the Letterform Archive and for Cooper Union as the Program Coordinator and teacher for Type@Cooper West in San Francisco.
