Students will given instruction and expert assistance to produce multi-color specimens of their typeface designs on Vandercook presses from polymer plates designed and prepared digitally in advance. Paper for this project will be supplied thanks to a generous donation from Publicide Inc.
About Daniel Morris
Daniel Morris comes from a family of letterpress printers. He runs The Arm Letterpress in Brooklyn, NY and is a co-owner of The Dale Guild Type Foundry, one of the last producers of true metal foundry type. Preferring print work to design, he has worked collaboratively with artists, writers, poets and graphic designers to bring their creative output into the medium of letterpress. He did his apprenticeship under Stephen Heaver at The Hill Press in Baltimore, MD and attended the University of New South Wales and The College of Fine Arts in Sydney, Australia. He has worked as technical assistant and taught letterpress at Cooper Union since 2007.
